Late/Absence Procedures
We are very proud of our attendance record at New Christ Church - which is one of the highest in our local area. We strongly believe, and share this with our children, that attendance and punctuality is absolutely linked to good progress and positive academic and pastoral outcomes. We value your support in this respect. However, if your child is too unwell to attend school, please contact the School Office before 9.30am to confirm the reason for the absence and the likely duration (if known). Infections can spread very quickly in school, so children who have been suffering from vomiting or diarrhoea should not return to school for 48 hours after the last bout of sickness.
If your child is taken ill during the school day and is too unwell to remain in school, we will contact you or, if you are unavailable, your nominated emergency contacts. Please make sure that you let us know about any changes to your telephone number (or your emergency contact details).
We ask that you make all doctor’s / dentist’s appointments outside school hours. If you must take your child out to an appointment during the school day you will need to sign them out at the office and sign them back in afterwards. Please allow enough time for them to be collected from class, so that you are not late for your appointment.
Requests for authorised holiday absence in term time will not be granted. Requests for absence in exceptional circumstances such as a death in the family will be considered in line with advice from the Education Welfare Officer. All requests should be made in writing, at least 10 working days before the expected absence, except in exceptional circumstances.
